WTF Adelaide
This cover is out in my car park!

While I was living in Tokyo I would have little moments every now and then when something would really jar me, and I would remember that I was living in a foreign country and really be thrilled for a few seconds. I those moments, I was able to step back from the daily grind and appreciate how far I had travelled, and it always came with such a rush of excitement. Those moments were quite common at the start, and became rarer and rarer the longer I stayed in Japan.

Now that I’m back home, I get those moments here too, very occasionally. They are still equally thrilling tho. Language seems to jar me more than anything else. There was a perfect example the other night: I was drifting off to sleep, and there were shouts and discussions outside from drunk people returning to their cars, as usual (oh the joys of CBD living). Suddenly I realised - I understood every word those people said! I am in Adelaide! I was there, and now I’m here, and I’m just thrilled!

(*Adelaide’s rather cheesy and meaningless marketing strategy. Thankfully they have wound back the advertising, at least to the local market, quite considerably of late.)
