And you wonder why I try so hard to be healthy now!Categories: Life in progress
We took Dad out for dinner at a classy restaurant. Suddenly, in the middle of a discussion about the drought and rainwater tanks:
Dad: Oh yes, I meant to tell you… Back in the days before unleaded petrol, you know how we used to live at that house on Main North Road, and we used to drink the rain water from the tank, yeah, well a friend was saying about how living next to a highway results in really high lead levels in the air and water, so that was probably in our water and air.
James and me: Oh, ok.
Dad: And the roof was asbestos too, so um, ... (quick look at each of us) ... Sorry!
Me: *LOL*
James: *snort*

weird how things change.
remember some older mothers (maybe even my gran) telling me that they were encouraged to keep smoking through pregnancy to keep them & their babies calmer.
then there’s the whole debate about how dirty children should get & how often they should be disinfected…bring back leeches & eating dirty food, that’s what i say!!!

that’s pretty funny.
i think the world has become far too precious for its own good. people have lived many a good year with all sorts of dangers. and here you are all clever and normal. just toughens you up a bit i reckon

Listening to the recent issue of toys made in China containing lead in paint, there are a lot of things in our world that is carinogenic, whether it is our food, pollution, the skin care cream we use etc., etc. Maybe there is something to be said for the saying - ignorance is bliss…
