Back to life, back to reality

I have been having a lot of fun away from the computer recently, been out riding my bike mostly, although there was also a spot of boogie boarding last weekend with my current houseguest, let’s just call him The Policeman. Mr. Policeman is staying with me for a short time until he can rejoin his family who have recently moved to Canberra, and he is a bit of a fitness freak, so I have been tagging along for the outdoor exercise.  I figure I may as well make the most of riding around while the weather is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! So yeah, at the moment a few days in a row might go past before I have a chance to check out what the cats are doing over at cheezburger, which is pretty rare. My typing speed has definitely slowed. Can you tell?

Anyway, yesterday was a bit of an eventful day, and it all involved indoor activities. First of all, I got to meet two of my heroes in the Restorative Justice field, two women whose articles I have read and cited extensively, and sure enough I got all tongue-tied and nervous as soon as I was standing in front of them. What is it about heroes that does that to a person? But, yeah, wow, two of them at once. That made yesterday a pretty cool day.

But then there was some bad news in the evening while I was out to dinner with some friends from Uni. I found out that my degree is no longer likely to be sufficient to qualify me as a mediator. The how and why is hard to explain, but suffice to say it seems that people involved in my course could have done more to make this outcome unlikely. Grrrrr. Not happy Jan. I feel like writing to the Uni and asking for my money back.

But then came an interesting offer. A friend suggested that he and I collaborate on a journal article! And while I’m not at all sure about doing that, it was enough to make me feel like getting back into the writing habit again. I have to admit, since I have finished Uni I just love not having to write anything, and its hard to motivate myself to blog regularly. But yeah, I think I feel a resurgence of the writing bug.

I have been catching up with a few friends lately, which is great. Ive been out for quite a few dinner dinners and catching up on everyone’s news…. It’s funny, but around the Christmas period there seemed to be so much going on, its hard to get back into the swing of regular life again. But I think I’m there now.
