Big Weather!Categories: Meteorology
Well, Mother Nature has certainly been having a rocking summer this year. We started off with a bit of a weak rainy season, and then kicked into a super-hot, super-humid summer. Noro-san, my font of knowledge about all things Japanese tells me that a hot summer is usually followed by a strong typhoon season, and that certainly has been the case this year. However, that doesn’t account for the earthquakes we\Zve been having\Z not sure what\Zs brought them on beyond the normal passage of time and the slow drift of tectonic plates\Z
I like strong weather. I like weather full stop. I could watch Twister all day. I spend a lot of online time looking at weather pr0n, I have to admit. And its kind of tempting fate to say this, but I like earthquakes; its totally weird to have the earth moving beneath you, and when you realise that you didn’t die but you could have, that’s a pretty good feeling too.
However, I was talking to MJ tho other day about the earthquakes they’ve been having down in Wakayama\Zthey are still having aftershocks there now, its pretty amazing. I said I was worried about it, and she suggested that some people feel that the release of pressure is a good thing. I agreed that I was usually one of those people, but that at the saame time, I didn’t think that too much stirring in the vicinity of Ms. Fuji was a good thing since we all know shes due to wake up again soon. MJ agreed, and thanked me for bringing that to her attention and increasing her uneasiness. No worries sweet! We all know we are sitting on a timebomb\Z
Im not going to bore you with all my fave weather pr0n sites, but in case you\Zre interested in the earthquakes, this site shows the last 50 earthquakes in Japan, where they were, and how big they were by the colour of the dots.
And now, just for a change, it’s a stunningly beautiful Sunday we are all off to the park for a wee spot of frisbee and footy! Catchya!
