EarthquakeCategories: Meteorology Photography I heart Tokyo
That was a 5 in Ibaragi and Saitama, and a 4 in Tokyo. It was inland, near Tsukuba, so there is no fear of a tsunami.
Freaky! Nice one! I was sitting here at the computer with my feet on the floor, and there was a bit of a vibration in the floor, like it was rippling up and down under my feet just the tiniest bit. Ms. Pixie was sitting on the sofa and without looking at each other we both said “Earthquake...” at the same time in the same tone of voice… the tone that you use when know bad news is coming. Then the room went up and down a bit, and then sideways a lot. And at that point i unplugged the computer from the mains and she got up from the couch with hers (we have matching computers, isnt that cute!!!) and I headed for the bathroom doorway and she headed for the glass doors out to the garden. We both just kinda waited there… the tv says that it only lasted 30 seconds, but it really did feel like longer. We just waited. It was big, and then it was much more gentle but continued for a long time. and then it stopped. So we did what everyone else in the country did at that moment, we turned on the telly to NHK and watched to see what had happened.
Apparently there wasnt much damage… the anchor asked someone in Tsukuba about standing things falling down but Japanese formal grammar being what it is, i coundnt understand whether there was an affirmative or negative answer to that question.
And now they are saying that there is no need to worry. So, back to your regular programming!
And we’re still here.
UPDATE
Ok, ok, that crack did not happen during the earthquake, it was in the window when MJ and i moved in 6 years ago. However, (and MJ correct me if im wrong) I believe it has grown since weve been here...(^_^)

Glad to hear that even tho’ the building you’re in is swaying in time to its own samba beat, there’s nothing to worry about. No tsunami either?!? Hardly worth reporting, really http://www.marshmallowspikers.net/images/smileys/smile.gif
Also glad you’re safe and well… -
