Niijima and the Typhoon TentaclesCategories: Adventures
Niijima Glass Museum.
Im sure that on Thursday night, we were all sitting at our homes, looking at the weather on tv or the computer, thinking, hoping: That typhoon will turn and wont come near us, it will turn and it will be a great weekend....
The boat over was no hassle, fun in fact. We plotted and schemed on the boat (which was surprisingly empty for a fully booked boat) as to the best way of getting a Good Spot. We dashed off the boat ready to fight for a taxi to take us to the campsite so that we could stake out the best spot for those who would come later.... but there was no taxi! Only a bus. Only a single bus for all we happy campers. We didnt all fit.
Anyway, there was half our group off the bus, dashing up the path… oh dear… there were a whole stack of tents along the path. I gave up at that point. I knew there would be no good spots left. Music was pumping from the Green, Green Hills already, there were brightly coloured, scantily-clad folk wandering around everywhere… ahem, back to finding a camp spot. We got a nice spot with a view of the ocean on no more than a 40 degree angle up the back of the campsite, and set up camp. It was too late for cooking but there was food over at the party, so we just got on over there and got into it. It drizzled for a while, but then it really started to pour, and we all headed for home after having gotten a decent boogie in at least.
