Pod People!Categories: Anthropology
First came the Hanashi Station announcement. (More info from Kuri and MJ )
Podcasting?
Then came the iTunes update and a new icon on the left-hand side: Podcasts
Podcasts??
And then whilst bouncing around from link to random link I discovered Odeo (forgive me Mr. Blogger-In-Passing who wrote a glowing review of the site, I googled you and everything but everyone has blogged this - and now me too - and I couldnt figure out which one was you - and I was at work so I erased the history...) which is a collection of podcasts. Go and have a look. Its interesting. And now I realise what its all about… and how many sites devoted to publicising and distributing podcasts there are out there. Odeo is definitely the prettiest. Not the easiest to use however.... tho ive figured it out now after my third visit, so its not exactly the most difficult either…
I love that the production and distribution of media is becoming detached from money and advertising. I love that we continue to invest technologically in our own voices and expandour range of self-expression. I love that the web is becoming increasingly democratic, that information and content is being brought down from the regulated voice of authority to the chaotic voice of anyone on ground level. All you really need is a techie friend and an idea. Viva la revolution!
...I thought about enrolling myself on the Hanashi Station program list, but then I thought: What would I say? If you haven’t got anything to say, theres no point proving it. I mean, its bad enough that I even have a blog!
