Tomorrow I will give a presentation (well, co-present actually, but anyway) that will mark the end of my second to last subject. I am almost finished! I only have to complete the placement and then I will have my degree. So Im already thinking about job hunting and what comes next. I’m heading for another transition period, and another uncertain future.

Perhaps not too strangely, I am noticing some reentry effects coming into play again. I am quite homesick for Tokyo and my old life, and I’ve been having a few Tokyo dreams as well. The morning after I dreamt about my old apartment was quite hard. I miss my old apartment just as much as I love my current one.

I met the Cynical Traveller last week and we talked a bit about reentry shock. He spent 5 years in Japan and came back at about the same time as I did. He admitted that culture shock at home had come as a surprise. We talked about it a bit, and I’ve been thinking about it since then, what the actual effects are. Still mulling on that one. Im surprised that it keeps coming up. I didnt really think of homesickness as a symptom of culture shock, but I’m thinking differently now.

  It’s so awesome to hear you are almost done with the course…! I wish i could do the same one day!

  I have been back in tokyo for 5 days.. it’s nice to be back b/c i can see my family and friends.. I do also miss my little flat I had in tokyo and work and all that which i left behind.. life goes on i guess as we all make choices to move on…!
