setsubun.jpg

Today i did the Setsubun thing in the office, with other foreign staff! We threw the beans around “Oni was soto, fuku wa uchi!” ("Devil out, happiness in!") and then ate them, one for each birthday. They do not taste good.

Heard about Setsubun from Japanese people every year since ive been here, and yet, in an office of gaijin, here i was finally celebrating it! And somehow that just doesnt seem weird. The gleeful way that Peter attacked us with beans was very cute!

The universe keeps thowing beans at me, they hit me on the side of my head and bounce off, but when i look around, i dont know what happened. Am i doing something wrong? Am i doing something i different? Is there something i should do but dont? An opportunity i keep missing? What? What is it??? Its driving me nuts!
