Work and play, family and friendsCategories: Stray Threads
Work gets interesting this week as I substitute for another teacher who is in hospital, which means that I am here at my Monday job for Tuesday and Thursday as well… which means that I get to eat lunch at the fabulous Concombre each of those days - anyone want to join me from 1-2pm?
It also means I get some nicely focused time to work on an interesting curriculum project that I’ve just gotten underway. It needs to be finished at the end of the month, so I have to get busy, but I’m enthusiastic about it, which is nice. Issues with the company itself aside, work is a pleasure when you believe that you are actually doing something worthwhile, of benefit to others and adding value to something. So I’m going to have a busy few weeks, but they will be productive.
In preparation for a busy week ahead, I made sure I had a quiet weekend and got the most out of the sunshine. I didn’t notice yesterday, but today under the harsh fluroescent lighting in the bathrooms here it was clear that my face had browned up a wee bit… and you know, thats enough to make me happy for the rest of the afternoon! I need more sunshine in my life.
This month is going to be a very busy one in more ways than one tho: First of all, Ms. T (also known as ‘Tracey the Diva’, guest mobblogger on Dr. Dave) has a birthday! Then my big little brother, the Ash-man will arrive in Tokyo for something a bit more long-term than his 3 month jaunt this time last year. I’m a bit sad that he isn’t staying with me this time, but I’m very glad that he has found a home to go to.
That same weekend is MJ’s birthday! (I use the term ‘weekend’ loosely here since the day isnt actually on the weekend, and as I’m working all weekend anyway there isnt much of an ‘end’ to it for me anyway...) It’s Leo Birthday season!
The weekend after that is the Earth Celebration at Sado Island again, which YOU are probablytired of hearing about, but which I’m getting increasingly excited about! The weekend after that has nothing scheduled at all! No work, no plans, I’m all excited about a blank in my schedule… anything could happen. I might even stay at home all weekend editing photos in my pyjamas!!! Or I might be lucky enough to be invited back to the pool… Oh, the bliss of having nothing to do… and the flipside of that: Oh, the bliss of having lots to do!
(PS: Ms Pixie, if you are reading, I miss you and hope you are ok! Come home soon!!! I am dying to hear all about the courses! And will you be angry if I use all your coconut oil on crisping my skin to a nice brown? Ill buy you more if you tell me where you get it!)
(PPS: Sorry for being boring!)

Yep, have experienced the same Next Blog claustrophobia myself; it’s like being in a very small room and shutting the door only to find that there is no handle on the inside… brrrr!
